This Week’s Folk List creates Immersive Worlds Around

By

Jessi Robertson – Shadow War Singularity

Jessi Robertson is a singer-songwriter and an alt folk artist. She builds her emotions with raw acoustics, baring all without giving it all away. Her stories swirl within the contemplative cauldron of her mood, coming out enriched and deep. Her latest release is ‘Shadow War Singularity’, a track that is crafted with floating piano melodies, a dispersing bass and a vocal that flowers progressively. The spaces un-filled by music or melody speak so much of the base emotion and mood of the artist, of the theme. From this space, she lets her vocals flow, detailing the song with vulnerability and an aching emotion that is rustic and so profoundly human.

Levi Sap Nei Thang – Born in September

Levi Sap Nei Thang is a singer-songwriter and Americana/ country artist. Her latest release is ‘Childhood Memories’, an album that features the rolling hills and vast farmlands of her hometown. Within these landscapes, she carves out moments of her childhood. Fond, nostalgic, dynamic, and full of imagery, the collection makes for an enjoyable listening experience. ‘Born in September’ opens the album. Strong beats are matched with active melodies and an expressive vocal line. As she tells the story of the day she was born, she celebrates her life, full of gratitude and joy. Such an energy boost, especially if you’re looking for a track that makes you feel alive and miraculous.

Noctæra – Visions Through Amber

Noctæra is a composer and singer-songwriter. Her latest release is ‘Visions Through Amber’, a contemplative and softly ethereal album. The title track opens the album. Sweeping the soundscape with cello melodies and an acoustic guitar drizzle, she speaks first through her instrument. The vocals open from the mist of the instrumentals. Lyrics are full of vivid imagery, as the lilting tone lifts it into beautiful lessons and epiphanies. If you enjoy the poetic nature and style of Joni Mitchell, the wholesome feeling you’re left with after, then you’re sure to enjoy this artist’s craft. There is something very grounding about her soundscape as she brings about magic to common spaces. Listen Now!
