Highroad No. 28 – Thistroubledsoul
Highroad No. 28 has such a remarkable sound. The indie rock band, in their latest release, ‘Thistroubledsoul’ creates a comforting, yet explorative sound. You can get lost in it, weave through the roads, the landscapes and the feeling. The song is about a restless soul that is looking for answers, for understanding and a sense of peace. The song is the journey through that feeling. With fiery riffs, dazing warm vocals, and luminous instrumentals, the soundscape all comes alive. It invokes a contemplative spirit, one that makes you think, wonder, feel; opening the listener up to a world of melancholy but also that of self-exploration and understanding.
Scott’s Tees – Cope
Scott’s Tee’s ‘Cope’ is the second track in this week’s queue. The song sets an expanse, filling it with mellow riffs, blurry atmospheres and long vocal stretches. An acoustic rock track that is as vivid as it is vaporous. Like time is when you’re grieving or when you’re in pain. Feeling both endless and short. The artist creates music in between space, for the moments that you want to cope, heal, but you cannot. In its vulnerable appeal, it is heartbreaking. Fitting into our Riffs & Roads list as an interlude, a moment of stillness to evoke before more dynamism and the alternative culture. It’s the soft, smooth, slow drift that you need.
