Beebee and the Bluebirds – out of the dark
Beebee and the Bluebirds start this week off with a blues rock brilliance. ‘Out of the Dark’ has the perfect hard rock depth and wandering blues blend. A perfect instrumental atmosphere to journey out of the black. Opening with swaggy grooves and tinkling melodies, it progresses into a funky, bluesy and upping song. The vocals are so smooth and fun, its flow complemented by the expressive instrumental accents. There is so much aliveness in the song, which brings the theme to life. It draws you out of the dark space and keeps you going. The flow is not your usual, predictable, feel-good kind, but more of realistic, relatable, perspective rich, darkness to light song.
Alex Wellkers – We Knew It All
Alex Wellker’s ‘We Knew It All’ opens his latest album, ‘Reach the Stars’. It perfectly showcases the instrumental and thematic pallet of the collection as it blends neoclassical theatrics with a hard rock flair. The track begins with light piano notes and builds up to an anthemic classic rock height. It is bedazzled with blues, especially in the guitar work. The chords are so immersive and rich with a smoky and moody flavor. The vocals are open, contemplative and transcendental. And the more you go into it, it gets to be more and more cinematic, a hypnotic film with a cabaret twist. If you’re looking for a new alt rock song to fall in love with, this is it!
Wingfish – looking forward
Wingfish’s coarse riff overload in ‘Looking Forward’ is the perfect way to end this week’s list. The blues rock soundscape, seasoned with funk and deep basslines is so compelling. Jesper Larsen’s vocals have that classic edgy quality as it pierces through the smoky instrumental atmosphere. A slow burn that has a tearing cinematic drama. Littered with bluesy mysteries, dark emotional corners and a daredevil on the loose, it keeps you looking forward. It keeps you hooked on it like a drug. A nocturnal dream that you want to keep riding forever, lost in its rogue textures and soulful rock. Listen Now!
