This Week’s Feel-Good Pop List is for those softer and sentimental moments of travel

By

This week’s feel good pop list explores artists like Child Actress, Cori Simone, and Tara Hack. All with their own distinct and unique styles, all boiling down to vulnerable and intimate human moments.

Child Actress – No Wifi

Child Actress fathoms melancholic romanticism in ways we haven’t seen since Amy Winehouse and Fiona Apple. It is the project of sound engineer and musician, Rena Kozak from Montreal, Québec. She founded the Child Actress project as a way to showcase and explore grief as a young widow. The bluesy pop and soul artist explores universal themes by infusing them into dazed states of sonic consciousness. In her latest release, ‘No Wifi’, through intimate and deeply personal lyricism, she showcases missed connections.

The soundscape is a swirl of smoky and glassy textures. Old-school pop beats set a strident rhythm. Her vocals are whispering melodies that spill with rhetoric and stream-of-consciousness poetry. They shine with woe, folding into the dazing spheres of instrumentation and sparkling synths.

Cori Simone – Waiting Games

Cori Simone is a UK-based fluid sonic artist and singer-songwriter. Her soundscapes often bloom with intuitive pairings of R&B, funk, neo-soul, jazz, and bedroom pop. Polished with mellow excitations of the mind, her tracks are distinctively hers. ‘Waiting Games’ is the artist’s third single release following ‘Pause’ and ‘Only You’. These tracks spell out the ruminative and ambient aesthetic swirls of her upcoming debut album, ‘R-80’.

The track has a soft, pulsing atmosphere that is crafted by light and dark spheres of melody. Cori’s glass vocals ooze with emotional color. Ethereal tangents, dazing funk accents, and sensual jazz flows texturize the floating ensemble. The listening experience is incredibly cerebral with plush visuals and hypnotic horizons. Listeners of Caroline Polachek, Biig Piig, Lex Amor, Mahalia, and Self Esteem are sure to enjoy the work of this artist.

Tara Hack – Who’s Hurting Who

Tara Hack is a singer-songwriter and pop artist with a strong musical purpose. Her compositions are inspired by values like empathy, sincerity, and honesty as she documents modern life and love. Each track captures a nuanced perspective of living, colored by her own personal experiences. In her latest single, ‘Who’s Hurting Who’, Tara Hack delves into the pain dynamics of relationships. It features the talent of singer-songwriter, Joe Killington alongside her.

The track unseemingly aligns retro vocals with contemporary electronica. Tara’s bluesy voice lilts through the boxy electronic beats and flashy synths. The dance in the tempo contrasts the dynamic emotional quotients of the theme, allowing the listener to sink into complicated spheres while still enjoying the freshness borne by the rhythm.
