David Scott Weaver- I Still Have Hope

David Scott Weaver is a singer-songwriter and a country folk musician. He has a soulful ethos. So honest and direct that by the end of every song, you’ll feel like you know him. That veil between the artist and the listener is absolutely negligible. It always feels like you’ve just met a friend. Especially in his latest release, ‘Songs of Hope and Resistance’, a collection that will really rally up the defiance in you, the principled version of you and get you to join the power of the people. Taken from this collection is the track, ‘I Still Have Hope’, a light and mellow and melodious track. It blends warm folk style acoustics with a soothing reggae rhythm. That emotion of one love comes rushing in, effortlessly, weaving into the country accordions and choral vocals. It forms a community, a feeling of positivity and hope that the world is heading towards a better place.

Rachael Sage – Nexus (Acoustic)

Rachael Sage and The Sequins are better known for their bold sonic flavors and open soundscapes. Music that is full of possibility, that can take you anywhere. Their latest release is ‘Nexus (Acoustic)’, a track that gives them to you, stripped down. It is made with just a wandering guitar line and Rachael’s expressive vocals. It’s a song about having lost a loved one, someone that you had a nexus with. And having to make sense of it. It’s a beautiful track, one that journeys vulnerably through thoughts and feelings, trying to arrive into a new place, perhaps a new perspective. And even in these raw moments of music, there is so much vividness and vibrance. It’s so human in its exploration. The song lets you in, folds you into its curves and keeps you involved. Keeps you reflecting. Despite its heartache, there’s a grounding, a positivity and a possibility of something more.

Bluebyrd – Shine On Me

Bluebyrd is a singer-songwriter and folk artist. His music is simple but expressive, and takes you deeper with emotion and thought. ‘Shine On Me’ is the artist’s latest single, a track that goes looking for positivity, hope, and answers. Through days of rain and cloudiness, the artist paves a road to the light. To that gleam of hope in a dreary time. With lifting acoustics, rhythmic build, and emphatic vocal energy, he leads the way. He wishes, he prays for joy. And when he finds it and feels it, he shows us that it’s in the little things, it can be in everything. All you have to do is take a moment to look around, look outside yourself and keep going from there. It is a beautiful song, especially for our spring folklore list. Even though we’re at the end of summer, the brisk and fresh mood of the track really takes you into an awakening state of mind. Where you leave the cold behind and find the color everywhere.

Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends – John in Roses’ Deep

Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends pose very intricate and artistic tapestries in their latest folk rock album, ‘The King and The Sparrow’. Each track is made like a saga with romantic ideals and melancholic themes. They make you think, feel and emerge reflective. One of the gems from this collection is ‘John in Roses’ Deep’. It has that rustic style which is well matched with thoughtful storytelling. The band really paints a picture and creates an atmosphere to experience it in. If you like poetry, vintage painting, and Shakespearean tragedies, you’ll love this track. Archaic theatrical scenes gently sprout like leaves from a plant and give you a freshness that’ll elate you. Think The Beatles but with the melodrama and hyperbole of Queen. Listen Now!

Jay Saint James – Cheap Rosé

Jay Saint James leaves his heart on the pages. Or rather spills it generously. And that’s why his music flourishes with a fresh depth that feels both timeless and modern. His latest release is ‘Cheap Rosé’, a track in which he traces memory frames of a complicated relationship. He explores heartache, scene by scene with romantic toxicity and generous destruction. Despite the chaos, there’s a passion that strings it all together, makes it makes sense. He gives us the bad, the ugly strung with the great. It’s acoustic pop with bold flavors, strong vocals and vintage blues. There’s also a contemporary taste to the composition. A fluidity that goes where the emotion takes you. To depths and peaks. And just like that, you get lifted into the cloud of thoughts and memories as if you’re a fly on the wall.
