This Week’s ‘Spring Folklore’ List includes Rodney Atkins, Colourshop & Zoe Konez

By

Rodney Atkins – True South

Rodney Atkins is a country artist and a singer-songwriter. He brings a powerful stylistic influence to the country genre. One that reminds the listener of its provenance, the culture and the spirit of the artists that came before him. His latest release is ‘True South’, a classic country song with that rustic and rolling country soundscape. The song has two planes. The acoustical country instrumental plane where plucked banjo, country violins, and acoustics float in their natural element. The second plane brings the distinct culture and country style of the artist. His vocals and the beats have an Americana anthem flow to it as he celebrates the true South. One that is far from the concrete jungles, raised with good old American values like hard work, respect, faith and grace.

Colourshop – Tra Mille Volti

Colourshop aka Alfredo is an Italian singer-songwriter who loves to tell stories. His music is a dispersing atmosphere of acoustics and words, creating beautiful worlds of human experience. His latest release is ‘Tra Mille Volti’ (translated ‘among a thousand faces’), a contemplative song that blends the inner Italian worlds of the artist with his London-based reality. Two worlds blending, forming a language, a tale that you can float away in. Detailed only with soft guitar acoustics and Alfredo’s warm baritones, the soul of the song is contained in the heartfelt inflections and expressive moments of the melody. Even if you might not understand the Italian verses, the emotions find their way to you. Sung from the heart and performed truly, it is a heartwarming song.

Zoe Konez – Paragon

Zoe Konez loves an expanse. That feeling of being surrounded and enveloped by the cavernous spaces of the world is everything. And that’s the experience she brings to her music. It has become her love language. To make people aware of the possibilities and vast energies that surround us all the time. Presented with contemplative and softly cinematic instrumentals, it is refreshing. Because it takes you back to yourself. Her latest release is the ‘Everything’s Fine’ album. The track ‘Paragon’ opens the collection. With its thoughtful piano melodies, floating acoustics and plush harmonies, the song drenches you with its energy. And Zoe’s vocals blows through this soundscape like a breeze, swirling and flowing with whimsy and melancholy. And somewhere in between the ambiguous and abstract spaces, the feeling comes and rests on your cheek like a butterfly.
