This Week’s ‘Spring Folklore’ Includes Jonathan Lobo, Audren, & Mark Griffin

By

Jonathan Lobo – Hero

Jonathan Lobo is a singer-songwriter and an alt folk artist. His melodic style wraps around intimate confession and expressive emotions. His latest release is ‘Hero’ a track that ponders on the legacy that he will leave behind and the ways he’ll be remembered. The track is incredibly personal as the artist shows up with vulnerable vocals and evocations. The whole song is a free-flowing letter, written with a philosophical spirit and a poetic vein. It flows smoothly. No breaks. No orchestration. Just the music and the artist’s thoughts as he traces the outlines of his life.  Reminding us that all we can do is our best. There’s delightful accordion textures and a fresh acoustical flutter within the cinematic neo-classical wave. A beautiful song to start or end the day with. So humbling and feel good.

Audren – True Love

Audren is a soul artist who has an incredible way of bringing stories, emotions and experiences to life. Her latest release is the ‘Think Freedom’ EP, a collection that spans across the soul spectrum, lifting themes into the atmosphere with color, grooves, feeling, and passion. ‘True Love’ is a single taken from this EP. The track is crafted with acoustics and expanded into an R&B and soul flow. The experience of the theme is made readily available to the listener. The dreamy feeling, the buoyancy, and the fluid exploration of it all. And there’s a splash of color that chases down the jazz basslines into pleasant spaces. It’s expansive, open and full of sensibilities.

Mark Griffin – Taking over my Mind

Mark Griffin is a singer-songwriter and country artist with a marked rustic charisma and character. His latest release is ‘Taking over my Mind’, a love song from a simple man. Contrasting the usual simplicity of his character with the transformative impact of meeting his wife, he creates a feel-good storytelling line. The acoustic grooves are rolling, continuous and unstoppable. And flashing between this dependable groove is the raw sound of the harmonica, squeezing in and out with sentiment and the country culture. Over the verses, the love becomes bigger, becomes a marriage and a life of love. And reflecting on a porch as an older man, he is filled with gratitude and joy of a life well lived and loved.
