This Week’s ‘Riffs & Roads’ is all About the Alt Rock Layers

By

EyBand – Wake Up Call

This week’s ’Riffs & Roads’ list starts strong with punk rock goodness. EyBand’s ‘Wake Up Call’ will literally shock you into wakefulness with its explosive tempo, driving beats and playful punk banter. It feels sporadic, spontaneous and has a bit of a dark edge to it. It’s perfect to bolster your adventure time, to get you to drive deeper, keep up your pace. There is a layered ethos to the track. In terms of style and evocation. You can pick up on a metal presence, just a whisper around the edges, feeding the punk drift in the forefront. The vocals are a stream of consciousness angst, drummed up by the free falling punk. Presenting a great riff experience for sure.

JIVARP – You Were My Everything

Jivarp’s ‘You Were My Everything’ is a pop rock song about heartbreak. It has a very 2000s feel to it and with lyrical references that go back to James Dean, the style feels very nostalgic. The protagonist is coping, a heartbreak angst that entwines with confessional and vulnerable lyrics. As she explores the hole left behind, the riffs help her make sense of it, to hold the feeling and articulate it. The beats are active and dynamic, setting up a nice listening drift. There are moments of softness that all culminate in a bolstered pop rock chorus. A perfect loop that has you singing along, feeling your feelings and vibing. Even though this song is about heartbreak, it doesn’t bum you out.

Eren Ayintap – The Codes in the Stones

Eren Ayintap is a Turkish musician, songwriter and guitarist. His passion for music makes up his music. His rich soundscapes, powerful presentations and incredible instrumentals are proof of it. His latest release is ‘The Codes in the Stones’ album, a hard rock collection that will pull you in deeper. It has fantastical elements that keep pulling you in. The mystery, tales, secrets and plot twists all exist and come alive in the soundscapes. The break out track is ‘The Codes in the Stones (Part I : Göbeklitepe)’, a driving riff track that sets the pace, the tone, and the mood for the whole album. Those crunchy, dispersing and explorative riffs have such a dramatic impact. It steals the show, in the at it bolsters the vocal journey and interacts with the beats and basslines. So extraordinary, a great climax to this week’s list. Listen Now!
