This week’s cerebral rock list is sure to illuminate the worlds inside you

By

We founded the cerebral rock playlist as a way to inspire authentic feeling in the listener. An array of songs that forge a path towards exploration and deep experience. These tracks add so much value to that playlist and speculate on our aim so vividly.

Seán Finn and The Late Bloomers – Late Bloomer

Seán Finn and The Bloomers are an indie band with a musical whimsy that is insatiable. It is always on the move, causing ideas, play, and a whole lot of trouble. Blending it with gloomy rock, they tread across a surreal plane that you can just float away on. Their latest release, ‘Late Bloomer’, is a mellow funk induced, dream rock, indie gem that softens the world around you with color. It’s for the dreamers, the people who live in their heads, in the imaginary worlds that they craft, all out of a day dream. The grooves are loose and free, passing on their rhythms to the listener. And the riffs are fuzzy and warm, pillow soft that you can immerse in. Finally, the vocals are a moody flow that reconciles it all, that wraps it all up and delivers it to you like a gift. If you enjoy the work of Peter Cat Recording Co., The Smiths, and melodic rock acts like them, you’re sure to enjoy this band.

In VideColour – Pretend It’s Brand New

The sound of VideColour is plush. It is electric yet soft, fantastical yet familiar. The artist combines the ethos of indie rock with colorful electronic elements, synths that come alive like long confetti. And within this atmosphere, he narrates intimate scenes and stories, slice of life frames. His latest release is ‘Pretend It’s Brand New’, a youthful, contemporary flow that exemplifies his creative style, his musical conception, and the sophistication of his vision. It has a little bit of the 80s synth pop aesthetic. Think Desire, Chromatics, and Electric Youth.

Rothko – Breaking Free From Then

If you’re in an explorative mood and you want to expand your senses and cerebral experience, Rothko’s latest, ‘Breaking Free From Then’ is the song for you. Often, in travels, there comes a surreal moment, a time that will carve out space for growth. And tracks like this are perfect to fill these spaces. The instrumental, gloomy and atmospheric like a rainy day, spreads out around you, filling the room, filling the air inside you, filling the body, filling the mind. The artist plays with textures and mood, quiet shadows and luminosity to form subtle contrasts and shimmering patterns. Like water glistening under the sun. Like moonlight on a window pane. It is complex, layered, theatrical.
